Ball video

Here is a very cute video of Dagan playing ball by himself. It's pretty darn cute. I had to sneak up on him so he would keep playing.

Random video time!!

Ok, so today I was video happy with Dagan. I just kept the camera out and shot all kinds of random things. Ok, not so random, but still. Here we have Dagan walking with his push toy. He has just now discovered that it is for pushing forward, not over to play with the wheels. Notice the sassy red diaper. Yes, that is a Misti cloth original. Red with animal print on the inside. I'm using old sheets, remember? The red was from a rod sock project for Mike. I told him I was taking the cloth, and don't try to stop me (insert evil laugh) Every baby should have one. Or maybe just mine. Anyway...

And the photo to prove he likes to push it over and play with the wheels.

This next one is him playing "where'd the baby go?" He really likes this game. Cracks him right on up. except for today, when he was distracted by the darn TV. IT was even something dumb, like Bringing Home Baby on TLC. Oh, and a cute picture of the game. Notice his little toes at the end of the video.

Next up, playing ball. It was starting to get a little dark, so the video is a little dark, sorry. We had LOTS of fun today, when he was being happy. With this whole walking thing, he hasn't really been sleeping well at night, and his naps are a joke. You can really tell in this last video how tired he was getting!

Ok, this last picture was taken the other morning when Dagan woke up all kinds of cranky. He was having none of me, didn't want to play with his toys, didn't want to be held, but didn't want to be put down, either. When he does that, I pop his butt in the Jumperoo, and let him jump out all that energy. I don't know what is going to happen when he outgrows that thing. Well, more than he has now. He really doesn't fit all that well, but he loves it and doesn't complain...

He was killing me with those toys in his mouth. I wonder if his teeth were bugging him. He seems to be teething on and off lately.

Dagan walks, and other fun things

Ok, so for the past week Dagan has been trying really hard to walk. Today he has made great strides (heehee) in the walking department. Over and over and over again he would stand up, hold onto something and take off. I even got a video! Of course, by the time I thought to get out the camera he was pretty tired. So, without further ado, here it is:

Here are the other things....

Today i discovered that I can sew diapers in the living room with Dagan out playing, all I have to do is put the sewing machine on a table. Yeah, DUH, I know. Sometimes I wonder how I get out of bed in the morning and function as a person. While he played I was able to sew 3 diapers for him. I messed up one. I forgot to put the elastic in the legs. How the heck does one forget elastic?? I don't know but I managed to do it. Here is the evidence.

I had it all finished and thought, that went really fast! Then, CRAP! Well, he just can't, well, crap in that one. It won't keep it in very well.

I now have 10 diapers for him. It takes about an hour from start to finish for just one. I've started cutting out and pinning together one night, the sewing the next day. Mike gave me 2 really super soft long sleeved T-shirts to use. One shirt made 2 of the next to the butt layers. The arms I used to make the soaker that gets sewed into the middle of the layer. I'm so clever! These diapers have only cost me $12.00. that's elastic and velcro. Ok, add $2.97 I just HAD to buy this flannel. Used for outer layer onely. He has 4 hockey all-star diapers. I couldn't help myself. The only bad thing about buying the cute fabric is that I have to cover it up with the vinyl pants. As seen here:

On one more note; I made laundry detergent today. I will let you all know how it works out tomorrow when I do laundry.

My first cloth diaper!

Today I made my first fitted cloth diaper! As some of you may know, I lost my job last week, so we're trying to cut expenses. One major expense is diapers. I found patterns online on how to make your own cloth diapers using material already available. I made this one out of an old flannel sheet.

It took me about an hour from start to finish, but it's not completely finished. So an hour from start to this point. I still have to add velcro or snaps. I tried it on Dagan to see how the fit was, and realized I messed up a little. I used one of the disposable diapers as the template. However, I forgot to undo the little sticky tabs, so it doesn't go around him as far as it should. You can't quite see it in this picture, but there is elastic at the legs and around the back, so it catches the poopies. I used diaper pins for the initial try-on. Thankfully, Dagan was cooperative. Mostly. I'm going to try again after he goes to bed tonight. Hopefully I can get the pattern down.

Our first ouchie with blood

Today Dagan had his very first ouchie that drew blood. He was walking around his little musical table, and he fell. He caught his chin on the way down and bit his little toungue! He was SO upset. He make a face like he was going to cry, got really stiff and started to shake, and then nothing came out for a good 15seconds. Then it let loose! My poor baby! Screaming, crying, big fat crocodile tears. It was really sad. After a minute or two of hysterical crying, I decided the best thing for him was a couple minutes of nursing. I was right. After about 3 minutes, he calmed right down, and started his new game, raspberries on Mom. Oh yeah, cracks him right on up. I try really hard not to laugh so he isn't encouraged to continue, but it's so hard!! It's freaking hilarious.

After that game, he crawled off my lap and back over to the table.
Well, that was sure exciting, wasn't it? That's really the only thing I have to report, unless I ramble on about nothing... don't get me started, I could do it. I'm not working at the moment, and the only person I have to talk to during the day is Dagan and he's not exactly a great conversationalist. See??? I've already started....

Dagan's first birthday!

Wow, I can hardly believe a year has gone by already. My little man turned one yesterday. I asked him how it felt to be a whole year old. He just looked at me. I was having little flashbacks all day of the day he was born. I slept horribly the night before, maybe because I was remembering the year before!

My water broke at 11:55 pm 9/8/07 and off to the hospital we went. Mike said, can we wait until the fight's over? (UFC) Yeah, cuz it there was only 5 minutes left. We got there, waited, got checked in. No contractions, waited a bit. Then the nurse says the doctor wants to give you a little Pitocin to jump start things. Yeah, I was on it the whole stinking time. Sometime in the early morning hours, I finally got my epidural. The anesthesiologist was trying to be funny and make jokes. I was not amused. I just wanted my stinkin' drugs! 11am I started pushing. 3pm she turned off the epidural (noooooooo!!!!!!!), and turned up the Pitocin. Then at a little before 4pm She brought out the mirror, and I watched Dagan be born! 4:03 is the official time! The first thing he did when the nurse put him on my tummy, was crawl up to me and touch my face.

Ah, how sweet! I'm not sure where the rest of the year went, as it all seems to be a bit of a blur. All I know is, my little baby is not really a baby anymore!

Well, here a then and now pic..

Then: Now:

Ain't he cute?

The Birthday Party

Last night we had a birthday party for Dagan. A few of the girls I work with came over, brought their kids. My day started at 6am when Dagan awoke with the sun. Yeah, ick. After the coffee had kicked in, and I called the Grandparents, we went to WalMart to get supplies. It's always fun and exciting shopping with a small child. He fell asleep in the car on the way home, and as soon as I arrived, the work began I baked 2 different kinds of cupcakes. I had orginally planned on making one, but I wasn't sure I liked them. They use Agave Necter instead of sugar as a sweetener. It has a lower glycemic index so you don't get the sugar high and crash as with regular sugar. They were carrot pineapple cupecakes. Since I wasn't sure of those, I made regular ones as well. We had artichoke spinach dip, roasted vegetable cream cheese spread, mini pigs in a blanket and pizza puffs. I cleaned and re-arranged Dagan's room, cleaned my bathroom, and my part of the bedroom. Mike was on livingroom and his part of the bedroom duty. I had cleaned the main bathroom Thursday. I had the cleaning and most of the baking done by the time the first guests arrived. However, about 20min before the guests started arriving Dagan decided he was going to be a pill. Wendy and her boys arrived, and we went to the pool. As soon as Dagan saw the water, he demanded in! Poor Mike had to answer the door and direct the rest of the guests as they got here. We ate snacks and played at the pool. Then we came in for cake. Dagan was more interested in the plate his cupcake was on than his cupcake

You think that pic is funny? You should have seen it before I took out the red eye!

He didn't know what to do with the cupcake when we gave it to him, he just played with it

Then it was present time. He didn't really care about that either. He was more interested in the paper it came in! It was, however, a fun little party. After the guests left Dagan played a little bit more and then we all went to bed. The End

Ok, my turn!

Oh, crap, I give in to the pressure to have my own blog! Now everyone can keep track of me, kinda, since I live in the big CA. Ick.
Ok, down to business...
In a few days Dagan will be one! I can hardly believe a year has gone by already. It seems like just yesterday I was hugely and uncomfortably pregnant, wishing my child would make his entrance already. Now he is a happy bouncing 1yr old! He's weighing in at 25lbs, and is almost walking. He has 7 teeth, and a few more are trying to make their way out. We are having a birthday party for him tomorrow, and several of my friends from work are coming and bringing their kids! Oh happy times....
Well, speak of the devil, the little one is calling me now... mommommommommommom. oh wait, dadadadadadadadadadadada..... back to mommommommommommom
